Brian Minnis: The Background

Brian's interest in music started at an early age at secondary school. Self-taught, he played guitar and sang in many small local bands. He left for London in 1983 aged seventeen where he joined The London Sound Centre and learned the art of programming musical hardware ranging from the Linn Drum to the Fairlight Computer, installing, operating and programming for many artists as diverse as Gary Numan to INXS.

Leaving in 1985 he joined Advision Studio as a technical engineer specialising in the electronic bands of the day who recorded there, working with producer Steven Hague on projects such as The Pet Shop Boys, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Erasure.

Whilst at Advision he also worked in England's first digital editing/re-mastering suite and became a sound engineer working in conjunction with the BBC's live Broadcast Division using the Advision Mobile Studio.

Brian has also recorded many Classical sessions for Advision.

In 1990 Advision closed and Brian joined Zomba Records as a sound engineer at Battery Studios working with in-house producer Peter Harris working with artists as diverse as Lulu to Billy Ocean. Additionally, he worked as a technical engineer for Mutt Langer.

Brian left in 1993 to become a writer/artist and was signed to the largest independent Library Music Label in the UK, Amphonic Music, writing many genres of music to briefs.

During this time he recorded and released a successful Underground Dance Album "Vow" on his own Label distributed through Pinnacle Records plus further releases under the name of "Batmen".

Brian was invited to join the Performing Rights Society in 1994.

Currently he has over two hundred titles published which are used worldwide through all media from film, TV, radio and the Internet as both incidental and advertising music.

Brian moved to France in 2004 and has now set up a Project Studio recording further titles and concentrates on writing in all genres and styles.

Las Mouliéras is a traditional 200-year old Limousin farmhouse set in 16 acres of its own land in beautiful rural countryside with its own pond surrounded by forests, lakes and stunning unspoiled scenery ideal for walking, cycling, horse-riding, fishing, watersports, bird-watching, photography or painting.

We are situated within a short distance of the village of La Croisille sur Briance with all amenities in the south Haute Vienne, just 20 minutes from Limoges, Limoges Airport, Rail and Autoroute links.

Haute Vienne in the Limousin is the least industrialised region of France. The area is renowned for its tranquil, undisturbed, open, rural countryside. It boasts 8 major Lakes, 26 Chateaux, 2 Theme Parks, many museums, woodland and Heritage trails, pretty unspoiled villages, markets and festivals.

Las Mouliéras is within a nature conservation zone and supports a wide and varied wildlife including deer, wild boar, red squirrels, lizards, rare butterflies, and birds of prey.

Lac de Vassiviere, only 30 minutes from the farm, is a 1000-hectare lake and provides a host of water sports including swimming, water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, etc. A Sculpture Park and modern Art Gallery is situated on an island in the centre of the lake and cruises operate throughout the summer across the lake. With cafes, restaurants, picnic areas, together with many children's facilities and adventure playgrounds, the area has something to offer everyone.

Attractive Limoges, the capital of the Limousin, is a 2000-year old city with plenty to see and experience. Most famous for its Ceramic and Porcelain works, Lalique being the most well-known perhaps. Limoges has a marvellous network of medieval streets lined with unusual art and clothes shops, cafes and fine restaurants.

Additionally, the panoramic views from Monts de Blond, the many ancient sacrificial stones from Neolithic and Gallo-Roman times, plus waterfalls and caves, are all well worth a visit.

Overall, the area provides a perfect setting for a summer holiday - a chance to unwind, take in the breathtaking scenery, tone those body muscles, or perhaps finish that book, develop your watercolour skills, etc. With so much on your doorstep, you will feel refreshed and relaxed as you breathe in the fresh air.
